Thanks for your comments. I was just trying to give an accurate account of all the hoops I was jumping through to get the wireless chipset to work with Ubuntu 8.04. 
However that was quite an old post, and I&#039;m pleased to say that subsequent versions of Ubuntu (8.10, 9.04, and 9.10) have all worked fine on the Dell, with respect to the wireless chipset. (In fact on 9.04 the sound broke, but that&#039;s another story).]]></description>
